My Demo Reel

Personal Bio

Hey! I’m Charles, a game sound designer and implementer studying at New York University as a junior in the undergraduate Game Design program. In my spare time, I beatbox, play volleyball, and enjoy short horror stories.

Throughout my life, I’ve always enjoyed both making music on my laptop and playing video games. However, I had never connected the two until early in my university life, where I encountered one of my current favorite games, Outer Wilds.

Beyond its irreplaceable story and gameplay, what made it unique to me was its sound design choices, which emphasized the horror and majestic aspects of the game’s theme of space exploration. It made me realize not only how easily it can be overlooked, but also how important it is in games. Soon enough, I found myself already diving into game audio.

During my time at NYU, I spent time improving my craft as a game sound designer and implementer. This included participating in game jams, redesigning sounds for some of my favourite games, getting hands-on experience with game development, and constantly seeking help from others to improve my sound design skills.

Currently, I am on my journey as a game sound designer and implementer, hoping to create soundscapes that someday would compliment and enhance the player’s experience of the game, much like how Outer Wilds did for me.
